You mean those "Express" self-service lanes? They're a joke. Not set up for customers to use their own bags (we now have to pay 5 cents each for plastic in our state).

Since none of us are trained to check out efficiently, it's a slog. I'm always amazed to see a long line of younger folks waiting to take on a part-time job, imagining these are "faster."

Customers using those things should get a 1% discount on their bill, considering how much money the store is saving in labor costs.
