You have nailed this. My brother, who lives on Faux News, told me that unemployed people are getting $100,000 a year! When I pushed back and pointed out that the max benefit in most states is $500 or less a week, and only lasts for 26 weeks, he then said, oh well, I don't really know what New York State does now because I don't know anyone unemployed. I also pointed out that the extended benefit of $600 a week from the Feds ended September 2021. He just is impervious to factual information. He's 74, with a high school diploma.

The real point is, though, if that extra benefit paid more than the job you had, the problem isn't with you, making a sensible financial decision, IT'S WITH A JOB THAT DOESN'T PAY A LIVING WAGE or offer benefits. But in Foxville, it's all those lazy people sitting at home playing video games.

Maddening.
