Wonderful piece, John. It's gotten me thinking about what songs would make my own similar list. When I was in college and grad school, I was into Chuck Mangione, the Beatles, Carole King, and Stevie Wonder. My apartment mate in grad school was Rolling Stones and Warren Zevon, neither at the time, in my early 20s, of much interest to me. That changed as I got into my 30s and 40s.
