"when poring through the stock image catalog searching for UX Design Team or something like that the results rarely contain someone like myself in the team but do contain members of the “younger generation” representing all genders and ethnicities. We are all but “invisible” which, again, subtly supports that “last acceptable prejudice”.

I could write a whole article on age bias in web and UX design. I once started collecting photos from the About pages of web design firms. The rare instance of someone with visible gray hair was office manager or maybe HR. I've been turned down for a lot of jobs when, after the first in-person interview, they discovered I was 15-20 years older than they expected (changed careers at 40). One time, 5 years ago, I was interviewed in person by a man 20 years younger who'd be my manager. I wasn't offered the job, he said, because I didn't have enough experience in Agile environments (I had 3 years at a startup!). Then I discovered, thanks to LinkedIn, they hired a young woman a year out of college.
