Very helpful Nick. I've been playing some with variants and still find it a tricky logic. As I was reading, I thought, why not start with the most complex instance and then subtract from there, and was pleased to see that's what you arrived at as well. Have you played around with using variants for interactive components? (Vs overlay work-arounds).
