Totally agree with you Carol. It's like this everywhere. And then the "don't-think-they're-well-off-but-really-are" people tell everyone in comment threads that "nobody has a right to live wherever they want if they can't afford it"; that "those people" (who service them) should just move somewhere cheaper; and that THEIR parents/siblings/grandparents just picked up and moved (probably in a covered wagon to hear tell).
As if people with low incomes could afford to "just move" somewhere where they know no one, have no social support network, don't have a job, and couldn't get an apartment because they have no job and no money for first and last month's rent and security deposit.
I am sure this self-congratulation makes them feel very superior. What they really are is lacking in empathy. And hiding from themselves the degree to which luck played a role in their station in life.
