This resonates very closely with my process, too. It has been a journey to get to: I'm not leaving something so much as I am going toward something. I'm retiring as of Dec 1, and since I gave my notice, coworkers have told me how much they are going to miss my insights and strategic thinking. It's almost as if I've reached the pinnacle of work skills, but feel just weary of "working" in a "job" when there are so many other things I want to do with my life while I am still pretty healthy and active. Do I sometimes waver? Sure. But the wheels have been set in motion now and there is only forward to look. Exciting and a bit scary, especially for a single, childless woman who rents.
