The most I ever made in one month was $43. That was two years ago. Now if I cover the $5 a month that's a win for me. Medium keeps changing its payment algorithm that I don't really trust this will be a win for me, also on a fixed income and having several other worthy organizations asking me for money every month.

I'm also bothered by the implications that anyone who doesn't become a friend of Medium isn't supporting writers.
