Thanks for sharing your insights. I have to point out that a course on UX should not be including UI design. Can we all please start separating those two disciplines in our minds? Speaking as someone with 20 years in the fields of graphic, web, UX, and visual UI design, drawing wireframes really doesn't call for UI design skills. At least, it shouldn't. Boxes and arrows are sufficient for wireframes. Unless you're calling visual design mockups wireframes. If so, that's a whole other topic.
