Same thing with design positions: No, UX design isn't the same as UI design. And no, when hiring for one of those positions, don't also require they know Javascript. Don't ask someone you're hiring to do user experience work to submit a polished UI design prototype as their "test". That already tells me the company either doesn't actually understand design roles or wants one person to do the jobs of 2-3 people simultaneously, for the price of one.
