Really interesting piece and I enjoyed how you tied it to research on the brain. I was always a lifelong learner and even in my 60s I was learning new software and helping younger colleagues with it. I hand coded many websites, including several of my own. But even I got to the point where I just wasn't interested in or up to mastering new ways of building websites. I'd make a note to try such and such, and then never do it. The last 3 years before I retired we all worked remotely and I was fine with that as I'd gone far past a stage in life where I needed to have a social life with coworkers. Interestingly enough, I have gotten together several times with 3 younger coworkers since I retired.
