One benefit of years of renting one bedroom apartments is that I couldn't accumulate the amount of stuff homeowners can. I do have a small storage locker in the basement of my building, which mainly houses moving boxes, snow shovel, and shopping cart.

Even so, I've donated, given away, or thrown out literally hundreds of items in the last 3 years, anticipating either moving into a smaller apartment or the cost of an interstate move, where you pay by the pound. I could still pare down.
