Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana—what are some of the things they have in common? High rates of poverty (next to no social safety nets), high infant mortality, poor education. Doesn't sound like places conducive to aging well, unless you plan to never need quality, accessible medical care, public transit, or even Meals on Wheels.
