I’ve taken to either putting in 5 or 0, because in the vast majority of cases, the product or site is not of interest or value to anyone I know who I might “recommend” it to. My friends are not software engineers or UX designers. They would think I was weird (well maybe they already do!) if I said, hey, ESL teacher Jane, I really recommend you use InVision! The only things I might recommend to friends are good books or movies I enjoyed. Other than that, I just don’t go around recommending things to people.

I recall a truism from my years pursuing a PhD in sociology: garbage in, garbage out. This is a data point with a foot in quicksand, in my opinion.
