I've been down the same road trying to find jobs in graphic and web design back in the early 2010s.

A career change meant that while it seemed on paper that I was in my late 30s-early 40s, I was actually well into my 50s. I'd get asked to interview in a phone screening call, everything would be copacetic, told I was a perfect fit.

Then in person, they'd see a woman with graying hair. Then I'd check out the company's website and almost everyone was white, male, and in their 30s except for maybe the accounting or administrative staff. Apparently, they didn't want to hire their mother. ;-)
