I worked at a place years ago, where people were being laid off left and right, and the owner had a staff meeting to share the slides from the 2-week vacation her and hubby had taken to the Galapagos Island. The definition of tone deaf. And she actually wondered out loud at another staff meeting as to why her company wasn't in the list of best workplaces that year. D'oh. (BTW: I grew up blue collar, am now middle class, and I can definitely relate the in-between status).
