I wonder if the headline is misleading. I don't think you advocate working for free exposure, but to find ways to be compensated that actually benefit you as a businessperson.

Any business that is profitable can go pound sand offering a creative person "exposure." Or even worse, holding a "contest" to design a logo for them, which means dozens or more entrants are giving their work away for free.
