I withdrew my candidacy from one employer who wanted each candidate to do lengthy design AND coding work that they couldn't put in their portfolio, in lieu of discussing the work in an existing portfolio, and wanted remote candidates to pick up a big chunk of the cost of flying to their remote location.
I also withdrew my candidacy when required to take some kind of spatial reasoning test that had zero relevance to the job, because "everyone has to do it."
I have had uniformly poor experiences with companies that insist on giving candidates a "test" whose evaluation criteria are unclear (or non-existent).
