I turned 64 a few months ago. I've been in the design industry since 1997, after a career as a reporter and editor. I've mastered a changing cast of tools, and read and inform myself in design-adjacent fields, including product design and product management.
What I've witnessed in a variety of different workplaces, both design studios and non-, is that some "young" or "middle-age" designers have an attitude of keeping current and expanding beyond their core skills, and some don't. Some want to do so to be more effective members of a team; others don't. It's not age, it's attitude.
