I tired of what I perceive as a growing right-wing bias in the New York Times, that paper that trashed Hillary in the 2016 election. So I call their customer service and tell them I'm cancelling, and say explicitly it's because I don't like the paper's work anymore (yes, they do some good investigative reporting, but that doesn't make up for the relentless both-sides, false equivalence daily drumbeat of stories).
The woman says, but you will miss out on the—wait for it—food section! As if that's the big reason to continue my subscription.
Verizon Fios made me sign a two-year contract for a bundle, $79.99. About 11 months in, they upped the fee for the DVR. I had to send certified mail to their CEO to explain what the word "contract" means and that I certainly wasn't going to pay more than the CONTRACTED fee for the DVR (not to mention, how does the cost of a device go up sitting in your home? They didn't upgrade it). I CCed the FCC.
Got their attention, they removed the additional charge and gave me a $20 a month never-expires customer loyalty discount. Nothing like threatening them with the regulators.
