I think you give recruiters way too much credit. I'd say 95+% of inquiries I get are clearly in the "throw the spaghetti on the wall and see what sticks" category.
Almost NONE give any indication that they know anything about me, just that they did a keyword search on LinkedIn, but of course, they open with "the perfect opportunity for you" followed closely by a laundry list of what the employer demands, but nothing about why I would want this "opportunity."
