I recently had a young man (well, young is relative, he's 39!) ask to talk with me about my experiences working in the education tech field that I recently retired from. He wanted to know about work life balance, what my week to week work day was like. Etc. It then expanded into our convoluted career paths. In grad school now to transition to another field, he was looking for insight. I felt privileged to share some things I'd learned from career counseling in the past.
As my psychologist friend said, this is Maslow's generative stage of life, where we can listen to and help those coming behind us.
And not talk about medical issues, lol.
