I must have been an unusually frugal worker. Wore little to no makeup, and only bought drugstore brands. I still have work clothes in my closet that are more than a decade old. No kids to take care of. Mostly brought my own lunch, and drank coffee supplied by the office. Now I did spend roughly $160 a month for gas and parking. But I will agree that, if you can swing it, retire as soon as you can so you can enjoy healthy years of retirement.
