I hear you. By all external markers I "should be" happy: working for a nationally known and respected organization, have mentally challenging projects, can work from home. But mostly I feel like the hours I have to devote to work are stealing from me. I tire of the emotional labor I have to expend to deal with coworkers' different work styles. When you realize 3/4 of your life is behind you, you just don't want to use up whatever energy and mental prowess you have on other people's priorities.
