I guess I feel lucky to have never married or had kids. I have much tighter control of my money, and I've always been a "late adopter", so that switching from a flip phone to a cheap smartphone feels like a luxurious upgrade. Same with going from an LED TV to a small smart TV. I don't buy books, I use the library. More than enough for me. I don't stream, I have a skinny cable bundle, and I have a mid level car.
I probably spend a bit too much on groceries, but I don't ever carry a balance on my credit card, and I've maxed out my 403b contribution to get the highest match. One regret is not having held on to a condo I bought in 1992. Stuff happened, and it looks like I will be a renter for the rest of my life. Since I have no heirs, I think I'm okay with that.
