I grew up in a blue collar home in the 60s and early 70s. Both parents worked outside the home. My Mother walked off her waitress job when her boss told her to clean toilets. The executives she waited on made the boss bring my mother back. She also staged a sit in at Sears when they refused to take back a defective item.

I did still have a little bit of be nice syndrome, but following in her footsteps, I staged my own sit-in on home plate when a boys' Little League team showed up at our accidentally double booked softball field and expected us girls to vacate it. I have no doubt the moms went home and told their friends about the bitch at the field, who thought that a girl's rec game was more important than a boy's "real" game.
