I enjoyed reading this Jason. I gave up on Wordpress 10 years ago, after being burned when a template I'd spent dozens and dozens of hours customizing and using for a blog stopped working with an update of WP, which totally killed my site. I got tired of self-hosting and dealing with security maintenance, etc. I have a portfolio site that is hand-coded but it's tedious to add case studies. chrisaraymond.designtank.net
My one question, having worked at a design studio back in the day, is if you are transparent with clients that when you're recommending Wix to them, you tell them you get a revenue cut. The owner of the studio I worked at sent client work to her husband's printing company without being transparent about the potential conflict of interest. I thought that was a little shifty.
