I can't imagine it's great for a coffee shop to have their tables occupied for hours at a stretch for the price of one cup of coffee. It seems to me that the places that allow squatting will lose business from patrons who came to socialize, buy coffee and food, and who now know they'll have no hope of being able to sit down, so they find somewhere else.
