From the title, I was expecting to hate this piece. I thought you were going to blame a tool for a people problem. But everything you say is spot on. Maybe the title is really "Jumping into Figma is making you a bad designer". Even after 25 years in design as of this year, I try to always start with pen and paper, or even just writing out a user flow in text to kick the conceptual tire first. Great piece, could use a better title.
