At the risk of being flamed, I have to put in my two cents here on this hagiography. Apparently, obsession with understanding subtle body language and expressions extended only to the court, and not to the hotel room where Kobe apparently failed to correctly read the body language of the young woman he sexually assaulted (or in his words, had a different interpretation of consensual). Look, Kobe’s death, along with the other 8 people on board, is tragic. Kobe had many admirable traits related to perfecting his craft, and he appears to have grown as a person in 20 years. But I’m not willing to just forget or gloss over what from numerous accounts was a year spent denigrating and bad-mouthing a victim of sexual assault.
