After announcing my pending retirement (in two months), HR sent me and my manager an email with the subject line "Termination Notice." Talk about triggering a spike in my blood pressure. I'd actually lost a job decades ago by being told I was being terminated.

They compounded the miscue by having a letter sent to my home from their COBRA administrator that began with "You experienced a termination event on [DATE IN THE FUTURE]."

I kid you not.
